Financial Support

The Willard G. Pierce and Jessie M. Pierce Foundation was created by Bill and Jessie Pierce in 1988 as a way to give back to the Barry County community that they called home. Over the years, grants to organizations such as the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings school system, Love Inc., and Charlton Park Foundation have supported a quality of life that makes Barry County a very special place to live and work.

Bill and Jessie passed away in 1998, but before their deaths, they became interested in "doing more". The idea of building an ecological education facility was conceived and the project began to build a place where people can learn about and grow in appreciation of the natural world we call home.

Because of Bill and Jessie's extremely generous gift, the Institute is blessed with an endowment that provided the financial means to begin something very special -- and that also continues to support and protect the original dream.

Your support will ensure that dream will grow and prosper. Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, private operating foundation with the mission to protect and enhance quality of life through ecological education, research, and stewardship of the natural world. A gift to the Institute is an investment in this effort to preserve and protect our valuable natural resources through better understanding and awareness.

Through a membership, you help support the many educational programs that reach our youth, our leaders of the future. Through a cash donation, you help support graduate students as they research the intricacies of our environment. And, with a bequest through your will or trust, you help ensure we will have the resources to reach more children, adults, environmental professionals, and members of the academic community to build a better understanding of the world around us.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can help, please contact Michelle Skedgell, Executive Director, at 269-721-4470.
